Didn't Firaxis said it would place downloadable factions for fans to use? Where are those factions.
One thing is sure: I'm not going to buy a CD for 5 or 6 factions.
Just a thought. Not enough fire for a flame.

You are forgetting the faction editor, among other things. It will allow you to make your factions a lot better than you probably have already done, since it will probably let you give special bonuses to the faction.
I think, and this is just my humble opinion, that Alien Crossfire will be great and worth the money. I'm buying it.

O come on. There already is a faction editor.
And what are that special bonuses? Give +25% to Air combat only instead of to all combat as the believers? Or an immunity for Planned. O jee, what special bonuses! No, I'm not expecting much of that.
Now if Firaxis have precise details of what will be new, I might be happier. But of course they won't do that cause then everybody sees there is nothing really important or new in SMAX.

Aaaah, the good all days when SMAC was just a far away dream and everybody was excited about it coming out. I still remember how this forum used to be so much fun to go to... Sigh!

Your a MAniaC alright! Anyway, each of the 7 new factions(5 human, 2 alien) will have "a spiecal power that was not possible in the original SAMC code. Not to mention new lanndmarks,techs, armors, weapons, units, bases facilites, and secrect projects!

Still, the thing remains: no Free Factions as I am sure they promised us in the beggining. That's not right.

I can't remember Firaxis ever promising to release free factions for download. There used to be a blurb in the Features section about how the faction files could be easily edited to create your own "FacPacks." They never said that they would make some.
