Rather than calling for mass boycotts of Firaxis OR leaping to their defense (particularly those of you who have chosen to do so with the beginning phrases equivalent to "well, /I/ am an industry insider" -- so? I'm a programmer, big whoop), I advise that people simply vote with their wallets. If you think Firaxis' behavior has been sufficiently good and their products warrant it, keep buying the games.
If you think that they have a problem with quality and/or attitude, stop buying them.
If their earnings go down, they'll get the message. It seems quite clear to me they aren't getting it by posts here.
Of course, if their earnings /don't/ go down, they'll undoubtedly continue in the same vein. But those people who /are/ unhappy at least won't have anything new to bother them.
I'm not urging /either/ course on people. I've stated my intentions, and people will probably continue to state theirs, but where it counts is whether you put the money on the counter or not.
