Over the months I've been here I've heard alot of people complain about Firaxis... about thier bugs, patches, coding, graphics, etc. However, what I ask is this: who here has actualy BEEN part of a major coding project? When I say major I mean it must involve all the normal, nasty stuff, budgets, large number of coders, legacy code, multi-language issues, timetables, marketing, administration (and any other dependance on non-coders), alpha/beta stages, stockholders... ect ect. It's easy to complain about work you yourself do not do. How many here can honestly say that they have actualy DONE such a project and it turned out better then SMAC? Admititaly it's not the best piece of software around.... but they could have done ALOT worse..

Doesn't matter, J. We're the ones who PAID for it.Customer satisfaction, not peer review. |

Jyth! LOL! Don't even get me started!First off, they didn't have legacy code. If they chose to use old code, that was their decision. Its not like we are going to strap SMAC on top of a CivII database and need it to update those saved games to SMAC standards. LOL! Trust me. LOTS of us have been involved in large scale, multi-language, budgetted and time constrained projects... including moving requirements and eternally changing deadlines... LOL! But we are the customers. And we are suppose to be treated as if we are right and treated with respect. And we feel as if we aren't. Now, why is that? -Darkstar |

Jythyou said they could have done alot worse...well if they had of done alot worse i bet there wouldn't be anyone here to complain about it on the same hand if they had of done alot better, there would probably be even more people here and probably more people would be complaining about it korn469 |
