Laurens posted a new high score on zakharov_2171 (and I clarified the rules - so you win even if deirdre escapes in a pod)
HelloKitty posted a new high score on T50_lal_2101 - however it was short lived as
Alkis came in later with an impressive score.

Can anyone play in your scenario. Aceplayer?
For I'm relatively new to the game and would they be difficult to play?
-Just downloaded the Exodus_yang_2215 scenario and gosh!!! That's going to be a hell of a time I got on for about 20 turns or so and the spartans had already sent probe warships against me. Swear to it but I really have not seen the AI using these kind of lurkers against me Is it ever possible to win here??
Uptodate I only won 2 games before, on the standard map of Chiron using UoP and the Morgans.

well - you selected one of the hardest
you might try an easier ones to start off
the contest page says how many years it has taken to achieve victory.

you both did the T50_Lal2101 as I found out right now. I'm interested in some comments about your experinces, strategies and so on.
Did you like the faction.TXT-file settings? Or was it still much too easy?

I didn't look at the txt file. I knew of course that the factions had some advantages but more than that, I didn't concentrate on the factions' details. I was just playing the game as a normal one. One thing I can say is that I liked the German names, like psycho viren or The Pazifisten.
I think one can make an even better score on that scenario. I tried to conquer the UoP but that took me a long time. For some crazy reason I kept losing battles even when the odds were in my favor. In the end I managed to make them submit on 2177. The Believers killed Yang first, then Santiago so in the end we were the 5 of us. I had a permanent pact with Morgan because I was playing with free market most of the game. I had relatively good relations with Dierde, so my only enemy was Myriam.
I discovered Environmental Economics on 2212!! In other words very late, maybe the latest in all of my games. Also I realized how bad a race The Pazifisten are. I usually play the UoP or the Spartans who are much better for research. I started getting one tech/turn from 2266.
I didn't manage to build the Hunter Seeker, so I was constantly afraid of Believers' probe attacks. However they didn't do anything devastating. In the last part of the game I conquered some cities of the Believers and of course the one with the HS. I was busy destroying planet busters with copters. I had orbital defence pods, but since the game was with events on I didn't feel secure.

thanks for your reply. You found out, that Lal is a bad faction for fast transcend? Ok, it was hard (had a long posting about my way to win! Did you read?), but all other factions may be even harder under same conditions. I mean, AI had so many advantages.
You said, in the end you got HS from believers. One winning condition was to get ALL SP�s (beside 50 transcendent thoughts). You were not clear about that in your posting.

I liked the modifications. I used the UoP as a tech farm allowing them to use their huge bonus to get way ahead of me then steal all their tech and take them over.
My problem was with the global warming. If you look at my solution yook at the 15+ bases producing 100+ minerals a turn. I had 70 some odd formers raising terrain every turn.

I didn't notice about the SP. If I had them all, as aceplayer says, it was just by accident!
I think the Spartans or the UoP would be a better race, but anyway it was an opportunity for me to try something different.
