GENERAL QUESTION: Can the Governors be controlled?DISCUSSION: I've gotten to a point in my current game where I would like to automate my cities' builds. However, I would prefer not to use the Queues to do it. I would like to turn the construction over to the "Governor". The trouble I have is that all the Governors want to build UNITS, not Improvements. If I can get them to just build Improvements, I don't have to watch them closely (eating up my real time in doing so) during the turn cycle, making sure they are not squandering my resources on unnecessary units and building the more useful Buildings instead. Right now, it takes me 45 minutes to cycle a turn, and over half of that is spent watching and responding to the production queues. SPECIFIC QUESTION: Is it possible to limit the Governors to building City Improvements or other Buildings and NOT units?

In the city screen, click on one of the down-pointing arrows left and right of the word "GOVERNOR" at the top of the popup (they both have the same function). A list of options will appear. Here you can make the governor to build only improvements. |

Or select "Build" option beside the Governor menu. |

TheScientist: Thanks, I'll give it a try tonight! There isn't a Game menu selection for it, is there?Sector7G: The "Build" Governor Option, unfortunately, doesn't limit itself to improvements when your city has nothing else to build. It will do Secret Projects as well. In my current game, I'm trying to maximize my game score. So, I'm avoiding the final two advancements for the "Ascent into Transience" until I get ALL my colonies maximized in terms of growth and improvements. If I select the "Build" Governor, it will try to build the final two SPs. So the "Build" Governor, as it stands, is out. If "TheScientists" suggestion works, I believe I will have my solution, but thanks for your suggestion. |

I don't know, because I'm not using the menus. If you want to select the same options for all cities, you can do it in the "F4" screen. First, press the "selct all" button. Then, press one titled "options" or so. The same list will appear. If you confirm it, your settings will be told all governors (this will take a while, depending on the number of cities you have). If you want a maximal score, try investing all your ressources in tech. Each transcendent-tech gives you 10 points (I reached 364% with UoP at specialist and with about 400 trans-techs (researching 3 per turn)). |
