I've decided to not reinstall SMAC untilthe big X arrives. Patch 4.0 haven't given me enough reason to dig up Civ 2 in space yet so I'll just have to wait for SMACX (which I will be forced to buy if they impliment my Alien landing idea - yeah, I know, big ego... ). Have Firaxis given an estimate? Shall we all have a guessing competition? How many new bugs will it introduce? How cool will it be? What new things will it introduce? Is it possible to make 14 factions with "great" personalities. What do we predict? Wonder if Firaxis would be kind enough to give us a teaser some time soon on what will be included? Nah, who am I kidding... Questions, questions... only questions...

Seems there are no good answers or even guesses... |

SMACX? Would that be an add on pack or something?.. if it is -- two words 'Orbital weapons platform'.. okay well three. Those things would kick major ass! They'd be like any other unit in SMAC (pick reactor/weapon/armour (how long they last in orbit against defense satilites), and then you launch them over an area (perminently.. or until it get shot down.. or its orbit decays or one of those random things happens)and they'd function like a huge range artillery except with around a 99.9% hit every time (depending on what reactor and weapon you pick, the atmospheric conditions, ect ect). Anybody like my idea? |

There is an interview with Tim Train over at sidgames I believe, I have also seen an estimate of a fall (October) release. Some interesting stuff over there. A cybernetic faction and a water faction, better functionality for water bases. Some more tech's facilities and units designs and SP's. A little AI tightening, plus a mention of a possible SMAC II. Would that be CIV IV or CiV V? Goob |

Re SMAC II: My guess is that it will come out concurrently with Civ III and be part of the "sweep of time" trilogy. It will support continuation of a game from CivIII to SMACII. It will probably also get a makeover and maybe borrow some rules changes from CivIII (stacking, etc). |
