And what do you want to say to her (it ?) ?

"Withdraw your units from my territory !"
"Vendetta upon you, Planet !"
"Will you join me in a Pact of brotherhood/sisterhood/ithood ?"
"I shall turn over this nice Fungicidal Gravship Former to you "

I don't see any interest in talking to Planet.

Aredhran,

Right on.

Why would anyone want to talk to planet anyway.

I mean, Price Charles talks to plants but can you see Yang muttering away with his pruners....

I mean, one eco-daft bitch is enough in the game as it is. We don't want the mother of all fungus in the planetary council, now do we ?

How many votes for Governor would planet get?

1 for each planet = 1
1 for each boil = a lot

OR...

1 for each mindworm = Give up now, Morgan.....

it would be cool to form a pact with planet. You could command it too form fungus and make demon boils that overrun another faction. If not you could threaten to planetbuster the planet.

Krushala,

the trouble is planet really hates everyone.

It tolerates EarthDeidre the same way we tolerate those crawly things in the sugar or (less than tolerate) fleas in the hot weather.

This lessens the logic.

actually they seem to only hate the human player. Sometimes I see mindorms get dropped of in enemy territory. But they never seem to do anything before they are destroyed. In civ2 I remember barbarians actually conquering enemy cities. It was especially amusing when I was so far ahead the barbarians were musketeers and the ai still had phalanxes defending their cities.

Krushala,

Yes. I remember that in Civ2. But in SMAC we have the thing I really can't get my head round.....

Of course it's Yang - who else. But why does he missile IoDs in the middle of nowhere

(a) He's daft. (or plain bloody certifiable...) or
(b) he thinks they offer some threat.....

I'm really puzzled.

We know the AI isn't I and only sometimes A - but is it as mad as me?

Confused eh? Its simple. Planet hates everyone because some idiot uploaded the Encyclopedia Of Industrial Revolution into Planet(Damn you Zarkharov!).

I don't think planet likes Deidre anymore than anyone else, in the game, mindworms constantly attacks her settlements [at least in my games. ] and I think planet isn't to crazy about Deidre capturing her mindworms.

Make him a new enemy, an undestructable enemy. Let's here him talk (A=planet, B=me):
(a)"Nice talking to whoever the hell you are. I want all your ----ing money and all your -----ing soldiers. I want you to leave. I hope you pollute a lot, that way I have more fungus, and more mind worms, then I'll kill you all! Ha ha ha!"
(b)"No. Come on, let's make peace."
(a)"Shut the hell up! Give me all your ----ing tech."
(b)"No! My men lived through hell to get that tech from the unity pods."
(a)"I don't give a ----! The more you pollute the more mind worms I get to kill you all. Ha ha ha! I've been working on this ---- project, now you will all die! You owe me all your money (income tax), you all your soldiers (my landfill), you also owe me all your tech (my poison)."
(b)"Ah, shut the ---- up!"
(a)"Get off my territory!"
(b)"But that's impossible, you live everywhere."
(a)"So commit suicide"
(b)"I declare vendetta on fungi, grass, and resources! Ha ha ha! Now that I don't pollute, we'll all die! Ha ha ha!"
(a)"You know, you should seek therapy."

i think we're missing the point here: planet is like an child just going through puberty. it neither likes or dislikes anyone specifically. somewhere in the game someone says something about unassimilated thought representing a danger to planet.

I've got a few things I'd like to say to planet but I think I would get my membership revoked if I did......
