Idiots. Idiots in wig-accounts.

A few months ago, when Yin26 wrote a critical thread that was named something like "blah blah Get to work, Firaxis!" I was amazed once again when a VERY upset guy wrote some **** about "how wrong we were about Firaxis yadda yadda... I think everything Firaxis has done for us and me personally is great...from tying my shoelaces to... yadda yadda...". This **** had happened to me a couple of times before, so I wrote pretty undisguisably that I thought he might work for F*****s(it is an ugly word nowadays).

Yes, I had seen a few people upset like that in some other posts that I had written, and they all had one thing in common: they were obviously lurkers that knew lots of stuff of the forum - they were extremely upset lurkers, lurkers with a very low post count (lets say like 6) and they all were the most satisfied, the most extremely satisfied customers. I suspected, the paranoid person that I am, that they were working for F-iraxi-s(will I be kicked out now?). Well, it was a possibilty at least.

The thing that got me thinking on this again was the game that was announced a couple of days ago: the expansion of Gettysburg or Gettysburg 2 or whatever its name was.

Yes, the idiot lurker that wrote in that Yin thread said something like this among his arguments: "I sure hope Firaxis does both an expansion to SMAC and Gettysburg as I loved both those games".

I just wanted to say really that it seems that I have a right to be paranoid, OR we have found people who are better at making predictions than I am (and they have that nice quality of defending Firaxis with their lives). No, it seems Firaxians really do dress up when the **** hits the fan.

Idiots. Idiots dressed in wigs.

BY THE WAY, DIDN'T A FEW OF THOSE PEOPLE USE FOUL LANGUAGE. PLEASE FIRAXIS, KICK OUT A FEW OF YOUR GODDAMN STAFF INSTEAD!

What? I'm just here to make the forum more interesting. No, that thread I talked about is gone. GONE!

Freddz;
I might be one of those people you are talking about. I fit Yin's difination of a lurker, been here for a long time, read the forums regularly and don't post much, although I only check the games and strategy forums. We had a brief mini-flame and you being a bit cooler headed called it off, thanks. I can't remember if that was in a Yin thread or not.

I will admit to liking the two Firaxis offering so far, I do not work for them. I was in a chat with Sid Meier prior to the release of SMAC, maybe about Sept or Oct of 98. I asked if there were any plans to to something on the Gettysburg engine, I got a kinda vague maybe answer. Gettysburg was pretty much complete at patch 3. Patches 2 and 3 were pretty much just game balance issues.

SMAC is a fun game IMHO, but it still does have problems. In the current game that I will be getting back to soon, Miriam is hitting me with missles from about 25 or so squares away, not fair . I have to micro manage all bases and formers, I think I might do that anyway, I want to control the building of my empire. I HATE waiting 5 minutes for the computer to finish it's moves, I've got a fairly slow PC by todays standards, but I can play some of the more visually intense games without that much of a problem.

BTW if the post applied to me, glad to see that I have been promoted from "newbie" to "lurker". That ia a good thing. Right????

Man, I conjured you! Couldn't remember your name. Too bad really, you spoiled a good theory... It sounded good for at least one minute. At least.

Couldn't you at least pretend you work for 'them'....

Post on, friend.

Actually, I think I will stick to the theory. A paranoid life has some charm...

Your right about one thing...

The "Mad" part of the subject...

The "conspiracy theory" is non existent.

But hey Conspiracy rules

I don't think its mad. If I was part of the development team, I'd maintain a spare id or three. Just look at all the trouble that happens when Jeff M. posts on a thread. Instant bombardment.
