This is what Game over have to say about CTP, please feel free to respond as harshley as you please.

Call To Power is everything the sequel to Civilization 2 should be while not being repetitive. The entirely new style of gameplay
along with the amazingly fresh graphics and sound create, in my opinion, the best turn based strategy game to come along
since Civ2 and definitely the best game this year.

Errrr....
Your Call...

They were payed by Activision ! No other explanation. I don't have the game. Everything I know comes from the Apolyton site and reviews. CTP sounds pretty good but not that good. Come on, people, as good as CTP probably is, it is not "the best turn based strategy game to come along since civ2."

Has anyone got anything else to say about this beauty of a slogan for CTP. To say it is an overexageration is an understatment!

You are going to get that. As the Heir Apparent to the CivII people, you are going to get the Super Civ fan that will immediately like it as its the "sequel".

You can see that sort of love, devotion, and loyalty around here as well.

It's interesting that all the other reviews have mentioned that the game had some major draw backs. One review out it in thier top 30, but did not give it a great review. Also did anyone notice that they had no negative coments? Come on! A good review shows both sides of the coin. For a better review check out the one that game it 3/5. Or wait for an established Mag to review it. I like the game but I am very upset that the bugs and lack of balance in the game.

Although I've only looked at the box. CTP is dungworthy. From what I've I would rather play with a piece of maggot infested dog crap that waste my time with CTP! I know because I have!

Do you guys have CTP? I think its an excellent game no matter what anyone says. Must be just because its Activision and not Sid I guess. Take the same CTP game and name it Sid Meier's CTP and BOOM its the best game ever made. I was very unacceptable to CTP and did not even really want to buy it but I broke down and said, it really looks and sounds good let me give it a try. Then when I did I realized it looked, played, sounded, and all of that extremely good and I thought WOW awesome game here! So give it a chance people and you will see what I am talking about, trust me.

Bossman, I totally agree with gameover.
Jimmy, it's so easy to accuse Activision of buying.. You should not unless you have some real proofs. If I say that Firaxix bought PC gamer?? ehu.
Gee, you just looked at box and conclude that the game sucks..

I have played CTP for about a week and my personal opinion is that it is crap! I mean the Game would be good if it was well finished and polished but unfortunately it is not. All you need to do is read the PCGamer review that is out now. I think you will find what they have to say is pretty trustworthy. However their are some very good concepts to the game, The interface is good but a little patchy and the time spent on the wonder movies is just sad! Their are still games though that are alot worse than CTP though I will give CTP a reasonable rating because the game it is based on is very good and they have managed to capture some of that CivII feeling in it.

I won't elaborate on my experience with CTP, suffice to say I don't consider anywhere near 'everything the sequel to CivII should be'. Quite the opposite, actually - while not being a bad game per se, it fails to deliver the goods if you give it a real work-out. OTOH, one can easily be floored by CTP if you play it for a couple of hours only & on a really hi-tech rig: 'Oooooh, PRETTY, so colourful, and dig all those nice animations'. Lotsa eye-candy, but lotsa flaws in game design as well. I personally would rate CTP in its present form at 60-70 out of 100 possible points (and SMAC at 85-90, CivII at 95 when it first came out, 80 now).

So long, CC

P.S.: If anyone want some info on CTP's pros & cons before buying it, have a look at MarkG's excellent site & forum - the URL is http://civilization.gamestats.com.

Really, Bossman, where is the PC gamer review?? I can't find it. Well, it would help if you say how much CPT got?

I think the reference to the PCGamer is in error; I got their May print edition yesterday and just checked their site and there's no review. I know that reaction to games is subjective, and that while I disagree with some decisions made by Activision in CTP (such as stinting the viable life of premoderm and modern units in favor of futuristic ones) this is largely a mattter of taste. But i find it hard to believe that any semiserious TBS gamer can spend several days and not find numerous (as in dozens and dozens) major problems in the game that seriously degrade playability. The failure to center on AI movement alone (I'm sure the beta testers told Activision that battles, marching, and trumpets could be heard offscreen or under popups) is a severe blow to Activision's credibility. How can you play a Civ game partially blind? (To be fair, there is some evidence that this is the first issue to be addressed by Activision in a patch. We'll see. But still leaves a slew of other issues.)
