Just an observation:

In every game I've played, the AI has opted to build only infantry-type land units - never speeders or tanks. Similarly, it refuses to design speeder/tank units in the Design Workshops of the various CP factions.

Anyone else run into this?

No, I've had the occasional speeder at my doorstep, one or two defending a city, and, periodically, I've run into them tooling around. It seems that (At least in my copy of the game, the I've encountered at least one of everything. Particularly annoying are those dagburned "artillery" units, though. I've laid waste to entire factions (as in capture and interrogate) just because they use the things against me.

What I HAVE noticed is the computer's tendency to build many more infantry than speeders/tanks, and many more jets than copters. Personally, I find the one two punch of copters and speeders/hovertanks to be quite effective, as well as a number of troops, regularly updated, in the cities. Then again, my strategy doesn't involve making my troops die for my faction, but making the AIs troops die for his/hers. If they want to stop just outside my city and wait to attack until next turn, that's fine...move all that way to get roasted.
