Topic: Can anyone answer my question about this tech?

posted 04-07-99 06:30 AM ET You know after you're done researching all your technologies, and you keep on researching the "Transcecent Thinking" techs or wahtever they're called, what exactly does this do? I know it gives you points for the score at the end but sometimes when I research these things the designer guys say "our engineers have proposals for new units, would you like to see them?" So this means SOMETHING new has to happen as a result of these things besides the increase of score, plz help thanks.

As far as I know the future techs don't give anything other than points. Did you go to your design workshop and see what units your engineers were proposing ?

These "proposals" are just old units that your engineers have proposed earlier but you didn't accept. When a new technology comes along, they go thinking that This might be the time that they should propose the unit. It's just an algorithm.

Each "Tancedant Thought" you reserch adds 10 points to you score.

Everyone should also know that the eco-damage formula takes into account how many technologies you have developed - the more tech, the more eco-damage (but this is hardly a major contributor). Because of this, I usually do not research too many Transcendent Thought techs; just keep your efficiency at 4+ (or is it 3+?) and you'll be able to have a different percentage of econ v. research without having a penalty.

If you keep you efficiency higher than 3+ it is possible to develop as many Trans. Thought research as you want if you can be bothered to carry on playing once you have built the Voice of planet wonder. This is only useful if you have had a crap game and need to build up points without Eco-Damage
