It sucks. The gameplay balance well - isn't balanced. Not even close to enough units. All the units from Civ 2 should have made it. Screens come up slow and it isn't because of computer speed. The supposedly intuitive interface sucks. There is way too much clicking. Right click, Left click, do I click right or left to get out of here, OOPS wrong one, start all over. You get the picture. A big factor is lack of Activision's support. Firaxis keeps updating their game, improving it and listening to their CUSTOMERS. Activision doesn't understand the word customer support and there seems to be a question of whether there will be patches or not and what they will contain.

... not to mention that annoying "auto-pathing" thing. How many times did my units wander off because i accidentily clicked the wrong mouse-button. Like you said, too many clicks, too many keys.
But Activision does give good support. They are all over the NG's. I don't know about the patch, but i feel that no patch can really help CtP. It's just "fundamentally screwed" ...

It did teach me a valuable lession, never again will I buy a game without playing the demo, and if a demo is not released before or at the same time as the game it is a bad omen.

They might be on the newsgroups but their email support isn't worth a damn.

I wrote them with a complaint that the game was crashing despite the fact that I had all the latest drivers and DX 6.1 installed from their own CD, and sent along a log of DXInfo.exe that specified my drivers by ver.# and pronounced them certified (this also from their own CD). Also included several of their little crash.dat files that are generated each time there is a crash that isn't severe enough to lock up your whole system.

About 5 minutes later I got back a form letter asking me to input the code for the game I was complaining about as well as my system specs etc (which were included in the original). I filled it out, but there wasn't even a code for CTP on their list so I had to choose 'other' for the product I owned...huh?

Finally today I got back a 'personalized response' from them. Their diagnosis: I may not have a directx compatible sound or video card...check the net for updated drivers if the cards are new, or consider updating my hardware if my stuff is old.

Unbelievable, its like they didn't read the info I included at all. Why waste bandwidth with a support address when this is the kind of nonsense they generate?

ClockKing, I found that out with SC3000. So, I'm waiting on the demo. But, you know, after all the complaints and substandard reviews (Gamecenter's), I'm not waiting anymore. I won't play it! Simple enough for me!
