I was looking at the system requirements on the CTP box and it says you need 320MB for the game and 80MB for swap disk space?!? This is almost equivalent ot Baldur's Gate!!!I take it this is because of the animations, but does this mean the CD is still used?!? Why so much HD space? CrayonX

full install US version (and Canadian one, too, eh!) does not need the CD. The only difference between full install and not-full install is that no movies and no sounds are put onto the HD with not-full (might be wrong about sound). |

...uh oh, the forum police are on to me...better turn it into a SMAC thread...One thing I liked was SMAC didn't take up too much space. I really hope they do something about CD-ROM drives so that they aren't so sloOoOow and don't vibrate so much. (I've got a 24x and I'm too lazy to upgrade) |

Almost close to Baldurs Gate? What the hell version of Baldur's Gate did you get? A full install is 2.5 Gigs, not Megs, thats GIGS, as in one forth of my hard drive! |

Hey, Baldur's gate is 2.5 gigs if you copied everything to your hard drive and throw away the CDs. Tell me how I have only a 2.5 GB Hard Drive (uncompressed) and managed to get Baldur's Gate, Alpha Centauri, Railroad Tycoon Deluxe, Sim City 3000, and about 25 other programs on it. (Hmmmm....)If you take the basic install options, it's actually around 400 MB (you can change the swap file to whatever you want, the bigger the better). Man, these games are getting too big, eh? |

CrayonX, games are getting too big. That's one of the better things about SMAC is that its small. 2.5 Gigs is bigger than my hard drive! |

I think it's $150 American, you can't get 8.4 for less than $200 here in Canada (plus GST plus PST etc etc).Anyhoo, I can't get a new hard drive b/c I gotta feed my kids...er...fish. |
