Received a pleasantly unpleasant surprise recently, when the Hive and Spartans coordinated an attack on one of the best developed areas on my western continent. They both sent boatloads of troops to the same square at about the same time, and set about destroying the nearby improvements. The bad news is that Auto-Forwarding is very very bad when you're trying to oust an invasion force.
I was building a Special Project, so I was auto-forwarding supply crawlers from several cities, when the attack occurred. When I activate my defenders to attack the foe, they instead take it into their puny minds to go support the SP instead! Even on April Fools' Day this isn't funny.
Also, why isn't there a setting that _stays_ so that we can modify all the auto-forwarding routes? Instead, as soon as I've changed one AFR, the screen goes back to the normal mode wherein no AFRs are visible at all! It's painful enough that there's no list of all the AFRs, so that every city has to be altered individually, _and_ that changing and even cancelling its AF destination is a tedious process; but put all together, editing all the AFRs is triple tedium.
Brian said he thought that the F4 screen had more sorting options in version 3.0; AFAICS it still has NO sorting options. After MOO2, this is a real letdown; and that game needed more effective information presentation.
SMAC ages like a good wine, but it's not quite Chateau Lafitte yet. How about it, vintners?
