lets try this post again. when trying to drop into or near an enemy city with "air defense" -(aerospace complex i think) you are told the drop can't be completed. however i've also noted on several different occassions that this happens when trying to drop your own troops into cities you control-both native and conquered. my own air defenses are preventing my drop troops from landing! tis has happened before and after global insertions were possible. am i alone in noticing this? ps-running version 3.0.

I can only airdrop once per turn, and I cannot move after I airdrop, am I supposed to be able to do one of these? At least move after I air drop? how else would there be an attack penalty for attacking after air drop?

Yes, you should be able to move after you airdrop. I have never had that problem. Were you moving before you airdropped and possibly used up your movement, or maybe you airdropped into fungus??

I have also noticed the aerial defense effect on airdropping to your own cities. It definitely seems like a bug to me, but I am not sure if it is fixed in 3.0.

yeah you should be able to move after dropping. its sometimes hard to hit the right square especially if the land isn't flat. my drop troops sometimes land outside empty enemy cities but i can still move into them after dropping. thanks for confirming my problem spartan frank. it seems like a huge bug to me and i didn't see anyone else mention it or reply to my first post. i know there's friendly fire in war but someone should call ahead to my cities and let them know the troops landing aren't gonna hurt them.

You can drop after you have have too. Just use the rigth-click menu to do the air-drop. Great undocumented feature!
You can also air-drop severel times the same turn and airdrop even if you don't start in a city. Nice of FIRAXIS to allow this

I only encounter this "bug" when I was trying to air drop across territory close to enemy bases. I always thought that the message was because you cannot violate their air space.. bug or not?

i encounter the bug even well within my own territory. trying to drop troops back into my capital which is VERY far away from every enemy city still yields the same results. the message even comes up telling me that air defenses in one of my own cities (morgan industries or whatever) prevents the drop.i've tried dropping from different locations within my empire to various other locations and every time it tells me that air defenses i control are preventing the drop. this HAS to be a bug.

okay, i went back to one of my older saved games that i was playing under version 1 and i couldn't re-create the problem. i don't know what to say now. does it have something to do with the version played or maybe a certain secret project was the problem. i had every secret project built when i originally discovered the problem but not when i loaded the older game. i guess i'll have to try and re-create the problem by starting a new game under version 3 and keeping a close eye on the situation. sigh...
