Anyone know what these 2 special abilities do and how to get them? I seen in the manual that Heavy Transport doubles the capacity of a transport but I have never seen that to select for an ability. They don't have a tech for it either so I don't think it needs to be researched. Also Slow unit is another special ability but why would someone design a unit with that?

i've never heard of the heavy transport ability until you mentioned it. i looked in the manual and it does say capacity is increased by 50%. it doesn't mention it in the online help though. it must have been dropped as an option. i've only seen the slow ability on unity tranports that you find at drop pod sites or perhaps start off with. most of the stuff you find from the unity is inferior. obviously nobody would want to build a slow unit though. you can upgrade unity units one you design better ones though. |

borghese: How did you accomplish that? I've tried many times to upgrade my Unity Foils, Unity Rovers, Unity Copters, etc. and it always tells me that I need to create a superior unit to upgrade to, even though I have every tech researched and can build any possible unit (except Unity units ;-). |

You have to actually make the new design in the workshop to upgrade to it first- so go there and make yourself a best/1/2 rover and you should be able to upgraqde to it. |

Check the Alpha.txt file, in the original, unity 'Copters were disabled, a patch changed that, also the Heavy transport options are disabled, as are the create Alien Artifact, and the underwater magtubes, as well as some other potentially cool features. There's all kinds of really good stuff in there. |

Here's an idea: allow the 'slow unit' abbility to be added, but at a negative cost. Right now alpha.txt does not allow for negative costs on a special ability, but this might be an exception worth considering. It would be idea for cheap units that you need to knock out in a hurry and real don't care how fast they can move. |

I'd like to be able to build slow units for a price break. I mean, why would my Trance Plasma Sentinels ("Red Cultists") ever need to leave the hallowed ground they are sworn to defend? If 'slow' could only be applied to infantry(for move 0), ships and air units, it seems to make sense. On rovers, it sounds more like a way to get around the true cost than any sort of valid 'design choice'. BTW, I have patch 3.0, and still cannot upgrade my Unity Chopper. Would I need to install the patches in order? Or have I missed some other point? BTWBTW, I seem to get one Unity Chopper per game, and always contemporaneous with the development of Needlejets. Has anyone found more than one, or found it earlier than that? |

To upgrade Unity units, you have to design your OWN version of that chassis. For whatever reason, the auto-designed units don't count. For example, to upgrade your SAM Unity Scout Chopper (<1>-1-8) to something better, design the something better chopper, then try to upgrade the chopper. You should be able to then.-Darkstar |

You left out one important point, Darkstar. On any difficulty level above the first you need to prototype your new design before you can upgrade other units to that spec. So design yer new chopper, then build one, *then* upgrade the Unity chopper. |
