Unless I'm missing something I would love to have that feature that was in Civ II but not in Civ I in which you can see all the effects (i.e. drones) of your social engineering choices before committing to them. This would mean in SMAC terms, not having to pay for the changes until the turn is over (or something like that), or perhaps getting your money back when you change back in the same turn.

Robo, You do in fact have that option. If, IN THE SAME TURN, you change the SE options back to what they were, the cost is refunded. The section of the SE screen where the cost is displayed will actually show "refund".
