It seems like there's a lot of discussion about which is the best format for stategy gaming. I've felt, since the advent of RTS, that they really belong together. It's always been dissapointing that the campaign aspects of RTS games lacked resource management and empire building. The scenarios held no meaning because the performance on one had no effect on the next. Likewise I've always been a little dissapointed with the drab battle resolutions in TBS games. When Civ came out I always found myself wanting to be able to play some tactical role in the outcome of military conquests. I at least thought it would be cool to see animiations of your mechanized infantry aquaring off against the computer's phalanx. Maybe something remeniscent of some of Koei's older games. I don't know.

I apologize for this incoherent and rambling post. It's late and I need more coffee.
