Okay okay. It seems every other topic is bashing the game so I created this one. You SMAC hating, or what I would call Anti-Smac-ist, be gone with you!welp, 5 reasons I like the game 10. It's the New Game in the Block 9. It's from, supposedely, Sid Meier 8. Extra-ordinary, maybe bribed, reviews 7. I can play it on an ancient desktop 6. I can play it on my P2-266 notebok 5. The Look and Feel is Different 4. It's usually fun, esp. when I'm getting my Arse whipped in Transcend, Ironman, Tech Stag, Tech Spoils, blah blah blah. 3. No so many crashes after I reinstalled Win98, drivers, etc. still having nightmares though. 2. Complaining about the game 1. Listening to everyone else complaining about the game

The game is so fun. You get to think up new and creative units to accomplish your strategy. You can go all out war or try to be as peaceful as possible. The techs are pretty cool in my opinion. I use the blind research and I like the mystery: I got graviton theory and I can build gravships or I found cyberethics and I can now switch to the knowledge value. Those are a few of my favorite things. |

I liked Civ and CivNet (but not Civ2 - don't know why not).I like SMAC even more ... why? Because it is an immersive Science Fiction game that to me is a realistic future. The quotes throughout the game are great (the people they hired to read them are fantastic), the movies very interesting, and the technologies intriguing. I read a lot of science fiction and it is impressive how they merged ideas from the various SF works into the game (even with full credit in the manual!). Besides ... I am so bad at playing it that it will take me years to catch up to everyone else! Best Regards, CaptComal |
