SMAC runs perfect on my comp. It never crashes, no bugs have surfaced, everything is just fine! In fact it is the best behaving software I have ever put on my machine. I am not just toeing to "Firaxis" line either, I too have been very dissapointed by big name software, but NOT this time. I was totaly sucked in by the hype surounding "Unreal"......got it home and was very dissapointed. It was damn near unplayable on my machine. I soon sold it to a friend (which by the way, has no problems running it). OK, so Jeff hurt your feelings (which is all this **** really amounts to in the end), get over it! Maybe he had a bad day, or maybe he had good reason to get pissed off (after all, we are only hearing your side of the story).

I am not attacking him as a person. I am attacking his tactics. Every single Board on this site has his "ban" post on it! I think he is the one that needs to lighten up a bit. I mean honestly, it's all water under the brifge at this point, let it go. I am sure he is a very nice person, I don't have a problem with him personaly at all, if you think that I attacked him personaly, then you are reading way too much into my first post...... |

Interesting comparison with UNREAL.UNREAL runs great on my PC ... but on my friends PC, not only does it now run right, but now other games that used to run flawlessly crash all the time. It is a nightmare to get the system functioning right again. Thus the same exact programming code performs completely different on our PCs! |

I as well was caught up with UNREAL, it runs okay on my system but not optimal. And the completely broken MP aspect was a major disappointment. But, SMAC has been stable for me although, I do wish it would run faster.Bottom line, those that hate it so much should get over it and find something else to play. If CTP is better then I'll by it when it arrives. What the hell, we are only talking $45 or so. I think when you get right down to it most of the big whiners are most likely kids who are just trying to see what they can stir up. In some ways it is very entertaining to watch!

Unreal didn't run AT ALL on my system. Getting a response from them was impossible. I sold it 2 months later. Net result - $20 poorer and very irritated.Halflife, ONTH, worked fine, even though I initially had a pathetically underpowered system to cope with it. |

O.K. I guess I'm going to have to aplogize for weeks until the threads drop off the screen. Serves me right, I suppose, for posting on all the boards. And, yes, the title of that thread, now that I read it again, sounds less constructive than I meant it to. I simply wanted to share the way Firaxis treated my criticism by threats and refusal to clarify their own defense. It was meant to be an open letter, a "What would you have done if you were me?" sort of thing. Anyway, I have nightmares now about all this. It haunts me. I can't even play with my pet monkeys anymore. Life is dark. If only my game didn't freeze, I, too, might not feel the lingering chill of those who hate and slander (but secretly want to be) me.* * That last comment was not endorsed by Yin Inc. We accept no personal responsibility as a company or as sentient beings for anybody's inability to understand Mr. Yin's supposed sense of humor. We have warned him many times that people on this board despise sarcasm and criticism. But he won't relent. Therefore, this post must be read "AS IS." You are not entitled to a refund, and, if we had our way, you wouldn't be entitled to an opinion either. |
