posted 03-07-99 05:28 PM ET I tried moving a base by continuously building colony pods until there were no people left. This worked in Civ2, but not in this game. How can you move a base without killing everyone in the base.

Im not apart of the Firaxis staff but i can answer your question In the higher levels (librarian and above i think) you can "unpopulate" a base by makeing lots of colony pods to bring the pop down to 0.

If you remember (do I?), in CivII too you weren't allowd to disband a city if playing chieftain (did someone ever? I did sometimes to relax plaing like god, one-handed eyes shut).

Any game of this type should have a Disband City option (CTP will), it would really speed up the end game. I am playing on a 160x160 grid and conquering approx 2-3 bases each turn, so each turn just keeps getting longer. It takes about 15-20 minutes/turn. I'm hoping to reach Transcendance soon so I don't have to continue endlessly.

You can actually disband a base. Just press "b" when in a city with a military unit. However, this counts as an atrocity.
I haven't tried it yet, though.

Just enable the govener and you wont have to worry more about that city

It's quite fun. I got a message saying "Base destroyed. 90,000 Believers killed."
Y'all should try it some time.
