I think Sid Meier made really great games (like Pirates(C64)), but why must Alpha Centauri be called Sid Meiers, its a Brian Reynolds Design.

It sort of a tradition. It carried over from CIV2, which was also abrd, but which had SMs name on it. |

Civilization 2 was just called Civ 2 and not SM Civ 2, and at least on the cover of the german package was not written Sid Meier. |

they figured that with Sid Meier's name on the game that it would sell more copies then with Brian Reynolds and it is a tradition with him making the first 2 civ games for him to be on the sequel to both of them |

Accually, on my game box it says from the creators of Sid Meier's Civilization I & II, thus SMCII. Also, it doesn't say written by SM but rather has a bio of Brian Reynolds and says he brings to life his vision of the future in AC.O.Blivion |

And of course, Sid came up with the basic design. I believe that it was his plan to have ideological factions, borders, etc.Imran Siddiqui |

Well, SMAC or BRAC isn't a big deal. Most important is that they have a excellent team woking on Firaxis. They are interested in making good games. So, SMAC is good for me. (I think Sid's name is a good selling argument) The Bio of BR in the box I think is good. This way Firaxis gives some credit to him. But I think it would be more important to talk about the team. They all did a great job. (With Jeff Briggs, Brian Reynolds and Sid Meier in lead) |
