I can't figure out why anyone would want to build helicopers? They can't take bases, they can't pick up unity pods, they are relatively weak defensively. I guess they can fly, but for what purpose if they slowly degenerate and can't take cities. Please explain?

EASY!!!!! They are the only air uint that can make multiple attacks, say the chopper starts with movemnet of 12 and enemy city is 2 squars away, thats 2 out and 2 back, that means they can attack the city 8 times in the same turn, means no matter how many units the other guy puts in his city you can take it out in a single turn with a one chooper and any ground unit. In fact there have been MANY post on here suggesting the chopper is way to powerfull. |

They are great after you Probe/concour a base in enemy territory. After you get the base build some chopers and send them in to the other bases (which shouldent be that far away) and you could take out LOTS of bases in a few turns. |

Choppers become much more powerful once you put fusion reactors in them. Then they can erase whole armies in a single bound, er, turn. |

They are the best aggressive attacking units in the game as they can attack multiple targets and then withdraw to saftey. Apart from this they are fairly useless...Darkheart

I stand corrected -- Helicopters are awesome; actually too awesome, they need to be limited or they will rule the game! |

I think the helicopters and needlejets are reversed. Should helicopters be the one with the ability to take bases and needlejets the ones with multiple attacks? Or am I getting gravships mixed up with the needlejets? |

Can helicopters be attacked by ground units if they land for a turn (and take damage)? If this is true, then maybe 'copters aren't too powerful...Needlejets really correspond to bombers in Civ and 'Copters to fighters. 'Copters, however, have an advantage over fighters in that they don't have to return to base every turn (the damage they actually take is not too bad). Gravships are a completely new type of unit, with several advantages. They don't require fuel, and they can take bases. They are the best of the air units, in my opinion. And don't forget about the Locusts of Chiron! They rule! |

No, the choppers are just like the helicopters in Civ2 (The ones you get with combined arms). |

Copters are just severly imbalanced, too good really. |

Vic - Civ choppers could only attack once. The planes could do multiple attacks, but had to be back in base at the end of their turn.I've already suggested a weapon level allowing units to make extra attacks, rather than it being chassis based. And I agree, choppers are way too effective, especially when used well (they're a great way to clean up an air invasion, too). |
