I am in the process of creating a map identical to the map of Earth as it is today!! I can't wait to see what kind of cool stuff will come of it! By the way, I am placing the landmarks in their regular places, i.e.- The Ruins where Stonehenge is, Garland Crater in that place in Nevada/Arizona/Mexico, where ever it is. Any other suggestions? I am going to try to place mountains and forest accordingly, but it will take some time. Oh yeah, I can't figure out how to put down strategic elevations. Whenever I press the button for elevations and use it, it seems to place them randomly! And answers/thoughts would be appreciated.Byesnavatay

How about Monsoon Jungle in South America and Mount Planet where Mount Everest is? |

Sounds like a great idea!now if we could just get rid of all the fungus and mind worms... I am so used to playing on earth that it feels a bit odd to see new landforms. However, i really like Firaxis' idea of the map of planet. (balanced continents, recognizable landforms, i am starting to feel at home!) |

Eno- Yeah, I think I'll do that. Other landmark ideas: Geothermal Shallows: Old Faithful in Yellowstone Great Dunes: Sahara Desert New Sargasso: Great Barrier Reef Sunny Mesa: ArizonaBut I can't think where to put Uranium Flats or Pholus Ridge. Help? Also, my question on elevations in the map editor remains, along with: I can figure out how to place land, but what about water? Also... Is there a way I can get a HUGE map to edit? I mean, that's just ocean? Byesnavatay |

How about putting the Uranium Flats in Egypt? In reality there is a high U-235 content in the sand there. |

I think you should have multiple nutrient, mineral, and energy bounus places. Just add the name of what ever it is to it.Like Jungle - any rain forest Geothermal - some place that has hot springs Yosimite (SP?) Uranium - Egypt's sand as stated before,Siberia and some other places...i cant remember them now.

Thanks guys!! The map is coming along nicely. I'm still forming the land itself, later I'll add the details. Again, I still NEED the answers for those map editor questions. Thanx!Byesnavatay |

Have antacrtica/artic circle be desert since there is no "snow" terrain. |

This may be kinda obviuos but New Sargasso could be the Sargasso Sea. |

Mr. Smily- Good idea on the anarctica terrain. Also, my question was, when I put down land, and then I want to raise it, I click on the little icon for elevations, but then when I click on the part where I want it to go up, it just places the elevations in a random pattern! Is there ANY way I can get it to place strategic elevations?Archilles- Wow! I never even new there was such a thing as the Sargasso Sea! Man, what a moron I am! Thanx pal! Byesnavatay P.S.- If somebody else wants to try my idea, here's a tip: The most important part of this project is proportion. Without proper proportion, the map just looks screwy. Make sure you have a detailed map handy. |
