I had an idea for a change to SMAC that I think would take care of the Stupid-AI governor /"micromanagement" concern that alot of people on this board have noted: The player should be able to design a "Master Queue" for base improvements and then designate any given city to follow the "Master Queue" until such time as you later override it. I find that frequently (in both CivII and SMAC) after I build a city/base I have a pre-set strategy as to the first number of things I want to build there.. [Often depending in SMAC on which Faction I'm playing] First a defensive unit, then maybe a Former, then certain improvements.. sure, it changes when your at war but it sure would be good to be able to build a city, put it on "automatic" and let it build what you want it to build rather than what the AI-gov wants to build. (I am really tired of the AI building that Freejack thing). Better yet let the player preprogarm an "auto-queue" for each of build/explore/conquer and knowledge.. that way, the player could design each queue and then turn on the AI to follow-it. This would sure fix the problem of having to spend time clicking on each base in a large faction checking to make sure that the AI doesn't start building something stupid OR if Governor is off, just start collecting excess energy without you realizing it!Any thoughts?
