I was wondering what people think of the idea of including immigration to the game. The idea that people of one faction can change sides. The unhappier a side is the higher the chance that people would leave. Also the chance of each person leaving depends on their status. (Talents never leave, normals slight chance, drones much higher). faction they would go to I have two ideas.
1) They would only go to the nearest faction. Then it would depend on the difference in happiness between the two factions. The higher the difference the more likely it is.
2) The other is that the people can immigrate to any faction but the chance depends on the relative differences in happiness between the factions and the distance that the two are from each other.

What does everyone think?

As to which

Hmm, well, I don't know about SMAC, or even Civ II, but I remember something like that in Civ I.

It only happened once, but in one good ol' Civ game I built a small, isolated empire and had just concentrated on being a perfectionist. And, during one turn, I recieved a message that such and such city from a nearby empire was admiring my empire's "superior way of life" and thusly defected to me.

Dunno if this got ported to the newer generations.
