What Secret Projects do you use?
What do you think the most important Secret Projects are?
What Secret Projects are "useless" to you?
Do you tend to make all your secret projects at a few bases or at a dozen or two different bases?

My first secret project is always the weather paradigm, because I like to improve my bases to perfection, and the sooner I can do it the better. I like the Hunter-seeker next as it completely eliminates any worry about losing techs to theft. I haven't been playing the game long enough to get all of the later projects.

Weather project is the best early project.

CLONING VATS!!!!!
This is insanely good, especially when you've got 20 or so sky hydroponics labs to make sure youve got lots of food. Your population rises to ridiculous levels amazingly quickly, not only raising the productivity of your cities but also raising your power greatly in the planetary council. This project is so powerful it is probably unbalancing. If you get it, youve won; if you dont, youve either lost or are going to have a hell of a time making a comeback. Hunter seeker is also very cool. Virtual world is a NECESSITY for university (on transcend). Cyborg factory is cool as is pholus mutagen. The most useless imho is the bulk matter transmitter. who cares about 2 minerals per base that late in the game? its almost exactly the same as two nessus mining stations, which are a hell of a lot cheaper. I always concentrate my projects in a few really productive cities, which are of course really well defended.

The problem with Cloning Vats, is that Habitation Domes are so much further up the tech tree than Sewer Systems were in Civ II.
So it's harder to use the tactic of building, say, six bases then improving the hell out them. Super-fertile factions like the hive and the Gaians can spread like rabbits, and lead you. Of course, the discovery of Super-Tensile Solids can make the leadership graph look a little funny

Andrew.

Ya, why the hell is Hab Dome so hard to get?

Space Elevator
Did your enemy leave that base empty?
It's yours now. Or the ever popular surgicla strike on a certain city.
