You can't, as far as I know. If you know that you don't want a unit to be automated, clear its orders before you end your turn; that way you won't run the risk of it moving again next turn before you get the chance to clear its orders. Hope this helps!

White Tiger ... YOU BET! That is one of my most nagging questions.
You have a dozen units all automated moving toward a common goal ... all of a sudden one moves and ends its move revealing something significant (enemy needlejet whatever) or ... the whole reason for these units going there is not longer valid (maybe the city you were going to attack has just been destroyed).
The units keep going and going ... I tried hitting keys and clicking all over but can't get the game to interrupt itself in dutifully marching all the units to someplace I no longer want them to go! (And the previous turn I was not aware of this, so I could not cancel them out then).
This is extremely frustrating! I hope Firaxis can add a STOP EVERYTHING key!!!

Wait, there is a way, actually. If you look in one of your preferences menus, there are options to stop your automated units under certain conditions. The defaults are for them to stop when they encounter units that are enemies or treaty members, and to ignore allies. These settings can be changed to your liking. Otherwise, there's no hotkey to stop an automated unit in the middle of a move.
