Is there someway to tell units to continue on to their final destination instead of having to redraw the route with the mouse whenever they get stopped by a zone of control of another unit? [ie CTRL-C, ATL-C,...]

I'd like to know the answer to this question, too. Also, is there a way to attack a unit using a single double-click-and-drag operation? As it is, I have to do one double-click-and-drag to move my attacking unit up to the target unit, and then do another one to start the attack. This is double work. One last thing, a suggestion for Brian... When I get to the end game, I often have a lot of units I need to move from one edge of a continent to another (to go after my next enemy). This means I have to watch, over and over, as units travel across the map along the mag tubes. This is fun the first 200 or 300 times , but eventually it gets boring. Would it be possible to give us an "instant transport" option? For example, once you set the destination base using the "G" command and click OK, the unit would simply appear, blinking, at the destination. BTW, thanks for a fun game. The more I play, the better it gets. Racimer |

There is an option that lets you tell your usints to ignore other enemy units. they will just walk right on by and continue to thier destination. Just check your in-game options and you'll see it. This has it's good points andbad points, so use it carefully. |

Correct ... check the preferences in the game and you will see options for whether or not you want your unit to stop when meeting others ... there are several options regarding this, so consider them all.Best Regards, CaptComal |

Dear Racimer,The manual (tm Firaxis) says that there is an option for instant transit of all units over all terrain (as far as the terrain and its movement points will let it go in that turn). I intend to look for it tonight, so it had better exist! (It would make SMAC _so_ much faster on my P-100.) |

Hi Zoetrope,Thanks for the tip. I keep telling myself I gotta read the manual, but that would cut into my game time. I checked today, and found some preference settings on pp. 199 and 201 (N. American manual). None of these give the "instant transit" option I'm looking for, but they might speed things up on your machine. I also noticed that the last entry under Game Commands on the back cover says, "Speed Up Game during AI turn...Hold Shift." Maybe this will provide a boost, too. Racimer |
