Hi,

just a thought. Often in the later stages ecodamage becomes a serious problem, rising sea levels can really be a bitch since most terrain improvements do not survive submersion.

I would really like an ecodamageoverview, somewhat like the productionoverview. And an govenor option to minimize ecodamage would be nice.

Furthermore, once i've build the (i think) the space elevator you recieve a mineral bonus when building spaceimprovements. BUT YOU ALSO GET a MAJOR ecodamge penalty. In one game when about 20 bases were building spaceimprovements at the rate of one per turn (per base) i had to fight of more then 200 mindworms (and some stacks of 20+ worms had to be fought one at a time). This really sucked, cost me 3 cities (al were 16+ in size).

Maybe this is a space-elevator bug???

But seriously I would like to have more control over the ecodamage, and an overview and governor setting would be very helpfull.

Firaxis!!!!!! PLEASE!!!

Any comments or thouhts on this subject?????? Please post!!!

I have only twopence (or two cents?) for you, since i got the game late and only finished one citizen game till now.
UoP, not Green society effect, but rather ecologistic: lots of forest, both Tree Farm & Hybrid Forest, no major terraforming (holes or mirrors etc.), that should have eliminate one source for EcoDamage. Around year 300 (25/30 size 30 bases) ED dramatically increased, can't say now if it was exactly in coincidence (thus consequence) with Space Elevator, maybe not.
Went for Centauri Preserve, Nanoreps (do they really help?), got mad for lack of Temple of Planet.
They became available only after Voice of Planet, that was mentioned nowhere!
Anyway with the full set, but PLANET=0, I still got ED in my bases somewhere between 5 & 20.
The very odd thing was, when in the base window I switched to the production of some satellite, the ED rocketed IMMEDIATLY above 100, and dropped back as I changed back to producing something else. So, were not the existing object to cause damage, but what I was attempting to produce!
Will have to cross-chek it with the existence of Elevator. It's hard to be explained to me: maybe at that point the Planet is aware and can understand the potential threat of what you're currently producing?

ED information in Base overwiew would surely be helpful.

EcoExplanations appreciated.

One way to get around eco-damage is to put a bunch of sky hydroponic farms in orbit before you build the bean stalk. Then when you do build other satellites, you can convert enough of your pop into Transends to keep the Eco-damage down until the satellite is built. (This is because mineral production at the city building the satellite is doubled during cinstruction of the satellite. It goes back to normal when you build something else. Then convert the Transends back to happy workers.)

So, I didn't notice or think to it.
You mean that you don't get the 100% bonus by halving the sputnik cost, but doubling your M output while you build it?
That explains how you get the high ED.
I doesn't seem that motivated in terms of game concept.

Thx

That's what I think, your mineral output is doubled. I had ED 0 until I started building en hydro, it rose to 128 ED!!!!!!

The worms didn't like that, and neither did I.

Another Idea is to turn building space improvements on and off (governor setting), that way you can keep the gov. active, with 30+ bases it cost way too much time to govern them manually.

I'd like to see this fixed in a futere patch (3.0 for example).
