It seems to me that it would take a lot longer to colonize a new world.....

It most likely would, though for gameplay reasons I think they limited it. Also, with an entire planet to colonize, I believe growth would, of course, be a priority, and as such population growth would be significantly speeded. |

There's nothing stopping you from playing for 1000 years, aside from it not scoring anymore. On the other hand, I don't think most people even play 400 years before they're ready for a new game. In all the games I've played so far, I've always been ready to quit right around transcendence.-Brian |

It would probably take a lot less. They already had reasonably good technology and humans adapt very quickly, so I don't see why it would take more. And one more thing; Have you ever needed more than 500 years to complete the game? |

Well, I haven't actually made it through all 500 years in any of my games, but doesn't Planet "wake up" after 500 years and kill everything anyway? |

Planet "Wakes up" when someone researches Threshold (sp?) of Transcendence and quietens down again when someone completes The Voice of Planet. At that point you should be churning for Transcendence as fast as possible.James |
