Last night I hit that point in the game that NO-MATTER how eco-friendly you are, you get rushed with mind worms. Now, I understand that this is part of the game, so I'm not complaining. Once I beef up my bases they are
fairly easy to defend against.

BUT this capture thing is starting to torque me off. What IF I DONT WANT YOU SQIRMY, SONS OF MOTHERLESS MINDWORMS.

Last night a swarm of 20+? mindworms showed up at my door. So I attacked, thinking about all them wonderfull worm pearls I can exchange for energy credits. Well it seems they were actually looking for a home and I "captured" them. Well hell, I thought, I certainly don't need anymore mind worms but whats a few more hurt. But when I looked in my base, I found that these worms ARE NOT INDEPENDANT and this base was actually suporting each of the 20+ mindworms with one mineral.

I'll just disband them and get a build bonus. Nope... No build bonus for disbanding worms.

Ok.. I really don't mind not getting 'credit' for dibanded mindworms. BUT I WANT A CHOICE OF CAPTURE OR KILL. Specially when I have to support 'em. Hell, I could have HARVESTED them for their pearls. Instead I got to feed 'em.

Just my loud opinion..

I usually try to capture mind worms, as they make good units when attacking bases, especially if you have the Dream Twister and can send the newly captured worms to a few monoliths to really beef them up. But I agree that at that point in the game, it would be better not to have 20 mineral produced in a city supporting 20 mind worms. I've found there are two ways to avoid this.

1. Soften the worms up with artillery fire. Use the F key (as opposed to just "bumping" with an artillery unit). It seems alot more difficult to capture an injured worm for some reason.

2. Lower your planet rating. As an avid Gaian player, this makes me cringe, but it will have the effect of lowering your chance to capture. If you do this, make sure you have TRAINED TRANCE units defending your cities. It's also preferable that those units be built in a base with the Bioenhancement Center. And best of all if you have the Neural Amplifier.

If neither of these are working well enough for you, just capture and then disband. At least your attacking unit will remain undamaged.

Anyway, just a few of my thoughts

Thanks for the reply.

I just want to say that I DO NOT think this is a game stopper. But I can't beleive they didn't include Kill as an option to capture.
I mean we're talking 1000+ credits for just the husks (with a worm group of 20+) and the possibility of improving the rank of the attacking unit. Hell I've gotten COMMANDO garrisons from just attacking mind worms. I wouldn't normally think of using a 1-x-1 garrison to attack anything EXCEPT mindworms.

1000+ credits aint pocket change niether. Man.. there are times when that really comes in handy.

Just wondering if you agree...
