Computer Gaming World April 99 issue page 24 side bar "Denny's Rants" includes this quote:

"Kudos to EA and Firaxis for not rushing Alpha Centauri, finished in late December, onto those crowded shelves"

He is speaking about how game companies tend to release their games too early (ie, very buggy) just so they can get in on the Christmas feeding frenzy. He was glad that Firaxis was not falling into that trap.

I am glad that this is being recognized ... since many of us repeated on this board that Firaxis should not release SMAC until it was ready! (we hated waiting, yes, but it was for a good reason).

Best Regards,

I agree Capt.
**Computer Games** magazine has an article in the April issue. this is the worst case of plagerizism I have seen. It looks like a clip art project from THIS FORUM. And he didn't even get it right. Even good ol'e Gilligan. HA.
begins on page 88.

Anybody else read this review?

eh? I looked at pg 88 and it is an ad about Jeff Gordon XS Racing. Am I missing something?

But do look at the very last page in the issue ... the column by Jeff Green called Greenspeak, Planet of the Geeks. The last two paragraphs are great!

The column explains how we long time "true" gamers should not be mad about some of the new games that we don't consider "real games!". He says to welcome the new gamers with open arms ... so later we can "kick their bumpkin a**es" (using Jeffs own closing words). He also says not to worry about them playing those other games and quote "With some encouragement from us, they'll come around to StarCraft, Half-Life and Alpha Centauri."

You find Alpha Centauri in the strangest places these days!

Best Regards,
CaptComal

Oh ... that is a different magazine ... I don't have that one. Computer Gaming World is the one I have.
