Please someone correct me if I'm wrong, but I get the idea from other posts that satellites can increase eco-damage by increasing minerals, etc. Is this correct? Why would a satellitie not bothering anybody up in space affect Planet at all?
BTW, does Planet get ticked when you vote in the council to raise/lower sea levels? If I was Planet, I know I would.

Two words for ya: SkyLab... or is that one. Anyway, it's a silly concept, yes. Perhaps Planet's influence extends to the rocks orbiting it. Erie!

I think it's because all the minerals being mined off-planet are shipped down to the bases and used for manufacturing on-planet.

"Perhaps Planet's influence extends to the rocks orbiting it. Erie!"

In Ben Blish's "Cities in Flight" novels, entire cities were wrapped in energy fields, lifted out of the earth on keels of bedrock, and launched into space to travel between the stars. Scranton, Pennsylvania was one of the cities featured in the stories--I guess that Brian read these books and decided it would be cool to send Erie, PA to Alpha Centauri. Cool!

(The preceding paragraph should be read with one's tongue planted firmly in one's cheek. I'm in a weird mood today. :-)
