posted 02-23-99 10:22 AM ET My suggestion for the next patch would be to have a feature that when you started the game, it would ask you how long you would like to play. The game would then continue normally until that time, then save my game and shut itself off.
This way my wife won't kill me when I tell her I'll go to bed at 10pm and I end up playing until 4am...

Great idea! My wife has gotten so used to the "just one more turn" syndrome that she's bought a clock that sits right next to the computer. I can't say that it stops the JOMT effect, but it makes me aware of it at least!

You know we suggested that a few months back and people immediately started talking about how they'd try and get round it once it was enabled. They'd set it themselves then try and get round it. It seems some addictions are too hard to break.

Fenris: Me, too, except that I keep forgetting to look at the clock!

The clock-trick won't work!! I've always a clock standing by my comp (and you can't change the time - it's one of those radio tuning clocks) and I often have a look at it after I have played SMAC for half an hour and it tells me that THREE hours have already passed. Seems as if there is sort of time bulb playing SMAC! Firaxis you should DEFINITELY fix it in the next patch

Well MY wife... wait, I don't have a wife hehe. But yes, SMAC warps the space time continuum. I think when you discover the secret of Temporal Mechanics that the game returns you to the "normal" flow of time, because by that time it's almost over anyway!
