I am bored so I decided that it would be interesting to see how many among you actually believe, or at least mostly believe, in what the factions do. I don't just want to know what your favorite faction is, I want to know which one you can relate with, and why. Which one you would be loyal to, and so fourth. I for one am a peacekeeper, how 'bout yourselves. and maybe for some added spice to these boards we could form actual factions, maybe something after our names to denote which faction we belong to or believe in. I want to know if I am talking to a religious fanatic, a tree hugger,or an aggressive warmonger. I think it would be fun, LMK.

I'm personally very attached to the University, probably because I'm a physics undergrad. It's gotten to the point where I can't really enjoy playing any of the other factions because I wish I were playing the UoP. At the opposite end, I could never be a Believer; they're just too weird for me. |

You obviously haven't been on the forums too long. We had people VERY partisan to "their" factions as far back as August. I can pretty much tell you the forum names of the people who have been truly partisan to their faction for the past few months (these are from the SMACER of the Year Awards, held on the pre-release test forum in November):Spartans: Yo_Yo_Yo_Hey Venom MikeH Morganites: Imran Siddiqui AUH20 Peacekeepers: Brother Greg Arnelos (ME!) Maya Roland Hivesters: Octopus tOFfGI Jfrazier Firehawk Gaians: Snowfire Solfiesk Believers: Jsorense Saint Renderolf UofPers: Spoe JB Borodino The Director General These are all the people that tended to be rabid defenders of their faction ideology for several months on the forums. I assume most of us just haven't been very involved on the forums since the game came out :-) Arnelos Peacekeeper Keeper of Wisdom (the name of Pravin Lal's faction last summer before Firaxis changed the name) |

Yeah, as for me, I'm a social science major, an internationalist, and a humanist...so of course I'm a peacekeeper.Arnelos Peacekeeper Keeper of Wisdom |

Athough, to be fair, I did somehow manage to win the University "Defender of the Faith" award, so a lot of people are confused on this issue. |

Was there a vote on what faction was least liked (i.e., what faction was directly opposing your faction)? For instance, hive v. morgan? |

No-one but Octopus and tOFfGI seemed to like the Hive.Pretty much EVERYONE else expressed they hated the Hive. In fact the factions debates have been *obsessed* for months with the Hive -anti-Hive debate (essentially everyone-vs-The Hive) |

Sorry Borodino, I remember that now. Yeah, we already went through that. |

"No-one but Octopus and tOFfGI seemed to like the Hive."Demonstrating how narrow-minded and short-sighted everyone else was . In fairness, Seely and Firehawk supported the Hive long before I did, I just made a bigger impression on the non-Hivers .

with the new efficiency change to the hive they are now a good civ. Morgan still sucks IMO though. |

The faction questionnaire at EA's SMAC site says that my ethical code best fits the Gaians, but I always play University as I'm trained in maths/physics/engineering.However, I agree with Miriam as portrayed in most of the story, not in the game. OTOH, Deirdre is a Genesis sort of lady, so maybe her faction's best after all. Now if only the Believers were Eco-daft Technological supremacists, I'd know exactly who to play. |
