I was able to stop playing enough to read through the manual. For the most part it is useful and complete, but in the 'suggested reading' section, there is one obvious inspiration for this game that the designers neglected to credit.
Certainly the story of seven stranded castaways, shipwrecked on an uncharted desert isle, forced to rebuild their civilization with 'no phones, no lights, no motorcar, not a single luxury' is familiar to anyone who has ever watched television.
The question I have is which faction leaders correspond to which original characters? The millionaire and the professor are obviously Morgan and Zakharov, respectively. If we want to maintain genders, then I think Yang's overbearing demeanor and authoritarian leadership style casts him as the skipper, and Lal... well he does wear a silly hat.
The women present more of a problem. Miriam's down to earth, rural background and fundamentalist belief fit in the best with the Mary Anne archetype, and her name sounds somewhat similar. Skye has the looks to be a movie star, and the aristocratic background to be a millionaire's wife, while Santiago doesn't fit well in either role. I will tenatively cast Skye as Ginger and Santiago as Mrs. Howell, more on temperament than anything else.
All that remains is to rewrite the song lyrics. Anyone?

Actually has someone has written lyrics. I just don't remember who, but they were really , really good. If you are out there, please post 'em again.

My only comment is that Santiago is GINGER. Ginger was a little spit fire that was willing to whack anyone or anything (until she was well over her head, then she ran to the others).
Ms. Howell was much more peaceful, and of the three, I think Diedre tends to be more peaceful. But based on looks, I'd say its the way you state, SLORC.
