I was looking at a few other posts, and was shocked to hear people did not like the technologies. I think that those are some of the more interesting parts of the game. What do you people want? Big Guns, Bigger Guns, and Biggest Guns? I personally think including more interesting techs such as Ethical Calculus, Transcendant Thoughts, The Will to Power, etc. adds to the realistic feeling of the game. Old science fiction stories were fine at predicting stuff like space flight or fighter jets, but one thing they all neglect is the different systems of ethics that may form. I think this makes SMAC one of the all time most original games. Another complaint is with the aliens. Just because they're not liitle green men, doesn't mean they're not realistic. On the contrary, if our first alien race were to actaully be humans, but with a few more arms or eyes, I'd be quite surprised. I think Firaxis thought of an actual different ecosystem, rather than just copying our own, and that we should be thankful. I think SMAC is the greatest game of all time, by far. <=O=E |
