Looking through the forums I see a lot of good ideas for an expansion. Does anyone know if Firaxis is planning any?

boy I hope not. X-packs are annoying, I hope they just work on another good game instead of spending a year changing 3 things about an existing game. |

I believe in one of the interviews with Brian Reynolds (or was it Tim Train) it was stated that they are looking to do one of three things:1) Alpha Centauri II 2) Alpha Centauri Expansion Pack 3) Alpha Centauri Scenarios Set Elsewhere I do believe Brian Reynolds said a new set of 7 factions may be released (part of 2 or 3 above or separate is unknown). So, we probably will see SOMETHING ... just have to wait to see what. Best Regards, CaptComal |

I vote on Alpha Centauri II because expansion packs suggest that there are only minor additions to the game, but really no improvements on gameplay. |

New factions woudl be GREAT. Actually I would like to see the Gians changed so that they don't lob Planet Busters at every chance.. I have seen more Planet Busting Gaians than I care to mention I would think they should care more for the enviroment .. Also I would like to see some factions like the following: Ocean Dwelling: They get bonuses for living in the ocean squares and negatives for land (but they would lose out on non-oceanic maps unfortunately)Anti-War: Great Probe Teams that have the ability to sabotage enemy weapon systems at a base, downgrading the enemy weapon level on some of their units. Also, mabee removing certain tech's from an enemy databse if possible. Also able to sneak in and ruin all research/development for Missles, Higher grade weapons and Planet Busters especially. Also this faction has a limit to the level of weaponry they may use as they would still want some kind of defense. mabee they could usa Psi abilities in combat too since they don't like weaponry. Some type of Labor faction: they should do really bad in research, but can produce much faster and use less minerals per unit produced. they are great with resourses and have alot of bonuses. also they have population bonuses, but must trade energy or equipment (I sure wish we could swap military or equipment for techs) for techs since they bring in more minerals, energy, nutrients and produce units faster. I'd also like o have the ability to sabotage other players communications with other factions. These are just a couple of factions I'd like to see.. I am sure they woudl all suck given half a chance since I am obviously not a game designer. but new factions woudl always appeal to me, any other idea's for factions or abilities?

I'm all for new factions to be developed. It would be nice to have 12-15 different factions available, with the option of playing against 3-7 factions, similar to Civ II. In addition, every new game would pick randomly the factions in that game. Aceman |

I saw a post where FIRAXIS suggested tere'd be a new Pac with a set of scenarios, a proper faction editor, Bitmap-format graphics for easy use when edititing, and a series of new Scenario Editors. This is something I'd definately buy, because these features are sorely missing from the original. |
