The other faction leaders never addressed me as Planetary Governor even though I had been duly elected. Not very important but might add to the experience. Also adding something when another faction leader is Governor might add to the realism.

I agree. I think the Faction Leaders should adress you as planatary govener and treat you like one. I also think you should have more diplomatic options in planetary conucil, like

1. Ban use of Planet Busters (but you could still repeal UN Charter)

2. Allow Nerve Stapling

3. Vote to eliminate a faction

4. Internation Spacestation, bounus labs, reveal world map, trading of technologies on a global scale (possible of coarse with appropriate techs)

those are just a few of my ideas, I like the Space Station the most! :-)

It seems to me that the other factions especially ones that are already aggressive (ie believer's , spartans , Hive) get even more aggressive when you become governor. Does anybody else feel this way?

also I would love the option to vote on economic sanctions. Get everybody to esentially shut down another faction for a while as punishment, stagnate the economy. Maybe even limit there military if they are too aggressive, but of course there would have to be some way to regulate this because then they would be ripe for attack. maybe you would have to provide so many troops per faction to keep order over there. when it is over they come home.

I whole heartly agree with what you all are writing. I think that the planetary council is a great idea, but it way too limited. It is kind of a comittee that only meets for extreme major events (ie polar ice caps). I would like to be able to meet for other major events (ie econ sanctions).

So if there is not a patch that makes thier events then there should be one that allows you to create them.

I think each faction should have it's own private motion it can vote to pass when the faction leader is govenor. For instance when Lady Diedre of the Gaians is Govenor she shoudl be able to automatically force everyone who has the technology for "Green" to go green. the only way this should be able to get repealed is if all other existing factions vote to repeal it.
Also morgan should have the ability, when govenor, to impose a free economy on the factions or something to that effect, thus making everyone alot of cash but...
Mabee the spartan leader could automatically repal the UN Charter on atrocities unless voted out. Stuff liek that. it woudl make each govonor ship different and your vote woudl really mean something.

I think you are trying to give the Council a bit too much power.

How would you realistically force a faction to change its government? "Force" implies military action, and that method is already covered. Perhaps if you made a "Green Government" proposal and the factions that didn't comply got sanctions from everyone who did. Then you would have a few rogue governments, like on Earth, that don't listen to what the economic community says.

How would you realistically eliminate a faction? Get everyone from Europe and North America to wish China away and it still won't happen. Where are all their citizens going to go? Vanish in smoke and brimstone?

Think about our United Nations. Even with the cooperation of the largest and most powerful nations in the world they still can't keep third world dictators from murdering people.

I agree that there should be more options available to the Council, but making entire nations disappear, or "forcing" millions of people to dump their government, is crazy.

Just because some one is govener doesnt mean that they get to mess around with other counrties, how would you like to be palying, some one holds an election and all of a sudden your SE is all messed up and you cant make millatary troops anymore! think of the mess that would make!

When I meant "eliminate a faction" I meant everyone declaring war on him or her. Requiring more votes to pass the measure of coarse.
