Has anyone tried winning via the economic pathway? I was just wondering about how many energy units does it require on a standard map to win by this method. Thanks Gee

At the beginning of midgame (around 2300 or so) I cost me 19358. about 100 turns later it was up to about 26,000.It is dependent on the total number of cities out there. |

I got one on a large map for 1956 credits. I was Uop and got Morgan's freq. on the first turn and allied with him. Then I destroyed the beleivers and got the peacekeepers and the hive to submit. The spartans and gaians did not have many cities so I won by turn 150. I like the different ways to win this game. By turn 100 it was clear that I had a large upper hand and would win, rather than having subdue everyone or get a tech victory like Civ. 2. This allows a person to win after it is clear he would win rather than take along time to acomplish the same thing. |

After I mentioned Civ. 2 I should have said that I had other options to win the game in a quicker way. |

On my super huge map of 75x150 with the Hive and Gaians breeding like no tomorrow it cost me 45,000 energy to buy the win with the 20 turn wait on turn 275. Hades buying Ascent to trancendance only costs about 25,000 from a standing start, but I had already won by Trancendance but not by Economics yet. |

It is the cost to send a probe team in and Mind Control every base on Planet. (that isn't already allied with you.) I wouldn't be surprised if it got some use in situations where you couldn't win any other way, just might be a little while. PawtheUnstuk |

I have one more question. How do you get an economic victory? Does it come up as an option in the council screen when you have enough money? Gee |

the menu button thingy on your left.go to HQ and all the way at the bottom of the HQ tab is the corner global market option.(you need a certain tech to do it.....think its planetary economics) |

The tech you need is Planetary Economics. |

I like to set different goals when I start the game. I usually set One winning situation depending on the faction I use. ie I will only select econimic victory if I'm the morganites, Transcendent victory if I'm University and so on. I think that it's very good to have this variety and for extra challenge I think it would be good to force an economic victory with the Beleversor anything that contradicts the faction... that would be an interesting challenge.I love this game........thanks firaxis PS On a standard map, I have about 120 formors from about 35 cities and it takes about 4 min to go through a turn. I do have a P2 and I was just wondering if it went any faster with more RAM installed. I do have 64 but if it would be faster I could upgrade really quick. |

I find the economic victory to be very difficult to pull off (still haven't got it ... argh!), mainly due to the energy market crash. *sigh* At one point the value to buy it all was ~5000. I had ~4800 and was making 300/turn, so I likely would have had it the next turn maybe two (it was growing about ~100 a turn) ... and then a energy market crash. I just about burst into tears.I am glad it is there though, since it really does give the Morganites a clear road to victory by wealth (as opposed to having to attempt to "convert" that victory into military power and then apply it, etc). All my victories so far have been diplomatic ones. CEO Bernard |
