A couple of tiny little suggestions I might make... (Feel free to add your own.)

Disclaimer: I think SMAC kicks butt. It r00lz, OK! But there are a couple of things I would tweak if I could, so if y'all have some spare time when you're working on the final patch...

When engineers suggest new designs, they should check to see if there's a better design that costs the same. For example, at my current technology, a needlejet with the best weapons and armor costs exactly the same as a needlejet with the best weapons and no armor. So why should the engineers automatically fill a slot with the "no armor" version? They should check and see, "Oh, it costs the same with silksteel", and automatically bump it up.

Related: Once I upgrade a design, the engineers often keep suggesting the old design. For example, I find at a particular time that a rover with hand weapons and armor costs the same as one without armor. So I upgrade the no-armr design to the armored one. The next time I discover a tech, the engineers, amid great fanfare, re-reveal the design for an unarmored rover. (Similarly, it seems like every time I get a new tech, the engineers reveal the "unarmored needlejet" design, and I click "upgrade" to turn it back into my armored needlejet design.)

Right now, when a city builds a unit, if the queue is empty, the city starts building another unit. It would be nice if I could toggle this for non-combat units-- have the option of having the game pop up a dialog box whenever a city builds a former/colony pod/etc. Very often, I want a city to build just one of these things, but I don't know yet what to put in the queue after it. (Apologies if there's already a way to do this.)

Again, thanks for writing a great game!

One bit of information, Needlejets do not take advantage of armour. This is why the engineers will automatically suggest not using it.

Hi,

Say WHAT? Needlejets do TOO use armor. I've seen the difference many times between my attacking the cp njs without and how fast they die and how well my njs with armor defend themselves. If armor really wasn't a factor I wouldn't ding up fighter njs nearly as much when they attack my bombers and have lost several cities.

Bud...
V'ger gone

If you want to build one non-combat unit then set the queue for Stockpile Energy or go into the warning preferences and then set Stop for non-combat units built. (or something like that) It will stop when you build a non-combat unit.

Regarding NeedleJet Armour.

This is how I think it works. Jet VS Jet - armour has no effect. Jet attacked by SAM unit - armour used.
