Help!!!
We've developed a dire problem since installing the patch. We've lost 90% of our voice in all win98. This has occured since the patch was put on. We tried the fixes to the ini files with no results. We reinstalled directx6.1 with no problems.
We double checked the latest sound drivers on our machine. We uninstalled and reinstalled the game without the patch. The problem seems to be in the operating system now. There seems to be no problem with anything except voice, which was not there before the patch.
Our system is a clone,intel PII 233, 128 meg sdram,diamond 3do2000,diamond 56k modem(both pci)Western Digital drives,4 gig C drive,6 gig D drive. Win98 is on the C drive with 2 gig free. The game is on D drive with 4 gig free. The sound card is a Soundblaster 64.
We started with the original Pirates that Sid wrote and have bought all his games since. This game is typical of his style.
We would appriciate any help.

Sounds like it's mis-detected your sound hardware and enabled 3d sound. Check the alpha centauri.ini file and make sure that both EAX and DS3D are set to 0.

I already changed both of those back to 0 in the ini file and it did not help.Any other ideas would be greatly appreciated.This game is Great. Thanx

I do not know how to explain this .I reinstalled again using typical instead of complete and everything is working fine again even after reinstalling the patch.All I know is I am very happy that now I can play the game again.I did not even have to change the ini to 0. Thanx
