I recently bought a copy of SMAC and was a little disappointed. Unlike CIVILISATION II, ALPHA CENTAURI did not have a CHEAT option?! So I was wondering if this was something that you decided to take out of SMAC or if there are some cheats included in the game. If there are a few, could you post them within your reply? Thank you

Select scenario from the main menu and activate the scenario editor. You can do whatever want from this menu. |

In the main Alpha Centauri directory there should be a file named alpha.* In it you can edit how long it will take to build stuff, including secret projects. I just have the demo but no one else but me had any SP. Make a copy of the file before you do any thing though. Hope it will help. |

I noticed one 'cheat' you can use. (1)Start a game. (2)Immediately save the game and retire (3)during the retirment display, the game will show you the complete, revealed map of Planet *and* where all the factions are. It's not the most detailed map, but in the begining of the game, it can make a big difference to know where you're friends and enemies are. |

lol. Firaxis definatly will not respond to a thread entitled "where are the cheats?" Like the above poster said, the scenario menu is the same as the cheat menu in Civ2. |

If you're looking for cheats, as in, cheats you can use against other people or in the game without getting penalized, forget it. Firaxis is not going to give you any cheats to give you insanely high scores or to cheat against people. Just learn how to play the game, IMO, actually playing a game is far, far more gratifying than just cheating around. If you're looking for Cheats ala Civ II, as was said before, use the "Scenario" option. It's just like the "Cheat" screen for Civ II. No score, but you can experiment or enjoy yourself blowing things up. |
