posted 02-14-99 03:51 PM ET One problem I have with the game is the fact that every time I get a new tecnology that allows me to build better units, the game automatically puts new designs in the slots. Many of these designs I never use and I have many types of designs that the computer never suggests. I have to go through with every tech and retire all the ones I don't like and design all the ones that weren't made that I want, as well as declare my older units of the same type obselete(the prompt about upgrading all future models only asks about the computers' designs). This takes a very long time, especially since you have to scroll through the 64 slots continually and that is very slow.
Is there any way to prevent the computer from adding its models, or better yet to design some templates for it to follow? If not, I would think this would be a very good option to be included in a patch.

You can tell the computer to stop automatically designing units. It's under the general preferences, I think, so you can turn it on and off whenever you like during the game.

I like it on for the start of the game so that it designs Formers as soon as I research them & such but turn it off later so that it doesn't keep redesigning artillery which I don't like.
