posted 02-13-99 12:51 PM ET Hi, On page 54 of the manual it states that roads will give a +1 (to a total of +3) bonus to a rocky square that has a mnie. Well I have built many many mines (In rocky & moist, rocky & arid) and I get absolutely no bonus for having a road in that square. My total mineral output for the square is only +2 with only a rocky square, a road and a mine in that square. teh squares are NEXT to my city if that makesa difference. How can I get the +3 that the manual refers to?

There are certain technologies which allow you to produce more than 2 energy, minerals or nutrients per square. You have to acquire these before those bonuses come into effect.

I can't find any info on what technology is needed to get the 3 mineral per turn stated in the manual. the manual doesn't say anything about a required technology to do that.
Also why do the AI units (even if enemy) get to mv through the squares next to my units when I have to avoid the squares next to theirs (I have to back up or attack) yet they can go from one side square to another with no problems.. I woudl like to have that ability as they do.

Look at your Tech Tree Poster.
There are three TECHS (level 5 or earlier) that allow you to get more than 3 Energy, Nutrient, Minerals.
I don't have the game here so I can't look it up for you.
I think the mineral one is about level 4 or 5 and is the square on the right side of the poster.
Until you discover (or get in a trade or steal) the tech noted above, you are limited to 2 per square except for the BONUS squares which do not have this limit.
