I have noticed that the enemy AI has the ability to demand 'taxes' 'enviroment usage fee's' 'church donations' ect... How can I attempt to extort money without threatening to "Crush" my enemy?? Other than TRADE. i don't want to trade info with them.. i want to try to get free cash just like they try > OH and hwo can i get them to give me tech's ("Because my people 'NEED' the tech")

Also, Sometimes I can lower terrain and sink an enemy city (A message pop's up that they are swallowed in a 'tidal wave'), but other times thimes thier existing base turned into an ocean base (it floats) and i don't have the pleasure of wipingout a huge city heh, what decides if they sink or not?

Also, One time I had the option of "Killing the reasearch team" with my probe when I had infiltrated an enemy city. I only had that option once. What determines if I get to do that or not?

Also, Is the strategy guide reccomened or does the manualcover everything I'll need to know? I am opting for the strat guide because obviously I am a total lamer AND there is no index in the manual (tho i hear there will be a d/l'able one soon)

One more thing Why doesn't the enemy AI every give ME a gift??? They always want somehting in return (like "Don't kill me, spare me, you are an awsome power i cannot hope to defeat).

Cities can survive a flood if they have a Pressure Dome.

I think probe teams can kill the research team (and set back enemy research) by going to the enemy capitol. One time I sent a guy to University Headquarters and got that option. It's not in the manual so I could be wrong..?

And as far as the strategy guide goes, I NEVER buy any of the crap put out by Prima. The last game I got was Half-life, and I thumbed through the guide at the store and it was complete CRAP! A lot of the stuff was just plain wrong. They publish it simultaenously with the game... I wonder if they even play it first, or write a guide strictly on design notes / old alpha versions. besides you already have a 250 page book, not to mention a tech tree poster, why pay 20 bucks more.

If a base has a pressure dome when you sink it (or the ocean levels rise), it becomes a naval base. Only bases without pressure domes are destroyed by submerging.

Hmm, first off, about the "extort"ing money, or asking for tech for needy people *snort*, I always figured that was the same as a demand, only more colourful. Might depend on what they think of you, I mean, if I hate you, I'd demand money, but if we're friends, I'd concoct a story about plague-stricken children, ya know?

As for sinking enemy cities, it depends if they have a pressure dome. Any city with a pressure dome becomes a water city (you'll notice if you build a city with a sea colony pod, it starts with them). Hmm, I haven't played with probe teams much, but could you send them in to destroy the domes first?

I recall reading in the help files that if you sink a city without a dome, it loses half its population before an "emergency dome" can be erected or some such thing.
