I don't know... you tell me!

Did Firaxis get a little inspiration to create a technology section and add Shockwave Movies to their site from the site Beyond Alpha Centauri?

Just to give you an idea of what I'm talking about... me and LDespot (the guy I used to work with) sent Firaxis an idea for our web site which was to create an encyclopaedia using data from the manual. Firaxis never did give us a final answer on that question and now I know why. They decided to use our idea on their own site!

That is a real kick between the legs! ...and I'm appalled that professionals would do something like that!

Maybe they had the idea before you sent it to them, they just didn't want it to go live before the game was released?

Oh sure! These ideas just come the clear blue sky!

No! I have proof the we came up with this idea. I have the correspondence between us (Beyond AC) and members of the Firaxis staff! There is no mistake about it.

I can't believe them.

For those of you that were wondering why I stopped hosting Beyond AC, now you know why! It's because of cheep shots like this! When you work so hard for so long to promote someone's product --all voluntarily--, and then get a kick in the teeth like this, it can really discourage a person!

not to sound picky, but an idea about posting information from the manual on a web page isn't exactly original. I don't know the situation so you very well may be correct, but I can't help but believe what they did post was somthing obvious that any company would of posted.

Would you like to see the correspondence for yourself? Do you want to see the evidence? The originality of the idea is in the way it is done. We were going to create a comprehensive database of techs, facilities, units, etc all on one file, which is something that I have done on my site from the very begining (backin in May 1998). I ask for Firaxis' help to create a new post release Encyclopaedia, and this is what they do! Instead of working with us, they just take our idea and use it.

That's all I'd like is a little recognition. You know, a thank you, or a request that they use our idea for their site... anything!

If they had done that, I wouldn't be upset. But instead of working with us and help us create a valuable resource for our visitors, they ignore us and use it for their site.

One word: Cheep!
