Today's the big EA SMAC day, so I thought surely the local software shop will have copies galore, seeing how it's been out in Melbourne for a week. Was that faulty reasoning or what! Went to Propellor Head in Camberwell, who are a licensed EA outlet: they had ordered eighty (80) copies from EA, but only twenty (20) had been delivered by Monday, and they sold out immediately, with fifteen (15) disappointed but loyal would-be customers placing orders rather than looking elsewhere. PH expect more copies to arrive on Friday.
Then I went to Northland shopping centre, where Videogames World had mainly Nintendo products, so there was no joy there.
Round the corner Electronics Boutique had a grand total of one (1) in stock, of course reserved. The young man I spoke to there (hmm, he looks identical to the assistant at EB in Caboolture, 2000 km north of here - nah!) thought that the EB management might have suffered an oversight,
but I said that it looks like EA has something to do with the understocking, and related the Propellor Head situation.
Drove to Harvey Norman in OfficeWorks on Bell Street. They had three (3) on order, but none in stock yet. I told the assistant that they had better get more, as they're bound to sell out instantly.
Depressing, isn't it?
Guess I'll have to place an order with Propellor Head, to stand a chance of purchasing this beauty of a game.
But as for EA: do they need their heads read, or what?
