I believe I have isolated 5 distinct bugs in SMAC.1) The rangeless artillery.
When you tell an artillery unit to attack, the cursor changes. If it is over a square within two squares of your unit, it is in a target, otherwise it is crossed out. If you try to attack a unit, it won't let you. But you can click on terrain improvements! I have destroyed improvements from across the map.
2) The movement point problem
When you get a Unity pod with a sea unit, and have 2 movement points left, and an Isle of the Deep surfaces, your extra movement point is lost. What's up with that?
3) The fungus gyp
Nutrient, Resource, and Energy bonuses, along with solar collectors, mines, echelon mirrors, do nothing to improve production from fungus squares. I can understand about the terrain improvements, but bonuses should work. If you aren't going to get a bonus from a terrain improvement, they shouldn't let you build it.
4) The, "We have you on visual" bug
Periodically, when I have just taken a city, the opposing faction leader will hail me. But I can press "OK" until doomsday and nothing will happen. The message box goes away and comes right back again.
5) The gender switching exercise
When you customize your factions name, and switch from the default gender, other factions don't pick up on it. For example, when I'm the Gaians and I put in male as gender, everyone greets me as "Pact Sister". A minor niggle, to be sure, but it should be fixed.
That's about all I have for now.
